Welcome, October!
“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald
October is a time of transition, connecting the energy of summer with the serene stillness of winter. In this moment of harmony, where day and night find the perfect alignment, we find balance and reflection in our own lives.
The event calendar starts filling up as we head into the 2026 holiday season. We open with our 96th Annual Heritage celebration on Saturday, October 10, throughout Paso Robles ... It’s Pioneer Day everywhere! The festivities begin at 7 a.m. with free beans cooking in kettles in the Downtown City Park. The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Spring Street and around the park, featuring tractors, horses, vehicles, music, local organizations, and more. The streets are lined with people enjoying this fun-filled event with family and friends. There are events all day, all over town.
“In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage, to know who we are and where we come from.” — Alex Haley
Downtown Main Street Association is again hosting one of everyone’s favorite events, “The Golden Oak Honey and Pumpkin Festival and Kids’ Flea Market,” on Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Downtown City Park. This fun, admission-free day features honey demonstrations, pumpkins, and vendors with antiques, arts and crafts, and more. Stop by and enjoy watching our future entrepreneurs: kids selling their wares to kids!
The following Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Downtown City Park will be entertained with the “Día de Los Muertos Festival.” This cultural celebration includes educational and children’s activities, food, dance, music, vendors of cultural goods, and more.
“Earth is only a place of passing. The soul is a bird that must eventually fly back to the sun.” — Indigenous Mexican proverb
Thanks again, Downtown Main Street, for hosting another event for our community.
October’s full Hunter Moon rises on the 26th, near sunset, lighting the sky for several evenings in a row. Game animals are easier to spot as fields are cleared and leaves have fallen.
Halloween arrives on Saturday night this year. “Safe and Fun Trick-or-Treating” happens from 5 until 8 p.m. with children in costumes and merchants handing out treats around downtown. There are fun and games for everyone in the City Park. Don’t forget “the witches” are out and around downtown all evening, waiting for photo-ops.
October comes to a gentle close; hearts are filled with gratitude, reflection, and warmth.
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald
As we move into the holiday season, may your days be slower, your evenings softer, and your nights filled with restful dreams!
