A toast to the next generation

Every harvest season tells two stories in Paso Robles. One is happening in the vineyards as another vintage begins to take shape. The other is happening throughout our community, where neighbors, local businesses, and wine lovers come together to invest in the next generation.

September is California Wine Month, which makes it a great time to celebrate not only the incredible wines produced here, but also the people and community that make Paso Robles and the Central Coast such a special place to call home.

Wine has always been about more than what's in the glass. It's an industry that supports local families, creates jobs, brings visitors to our region, and helps small businesses thrive. The wine industry and wine tourism support nearly 9,000 local jobs (that’s 1 in every 5 jobs), touching nearly every corner of our community.

One of the most rewarding examples of that impact is the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance (PRWCA) Foundation's scholarship program. Each spring, local graduating seniors receive scholarships to help them take the next step toward their futures. For many students, those awards help ease the financial burden of higher education and open doors that might otherwise be out of reach.

Over the past five years, the PRWCA Foundation has awarded 67 scholarships totaling $148,000 to North County students. Every scholarship represents a young person with big goals, a family receiving a little extra support, and a community that believes in investing in its future.

Those scholarships are funded entirely through one special event: the Paso Robles Wine Country Virtual Auction.

This year's virtual auction runs September 14-23 on Pasowine.com and features the kinds of experiences that make Paso Robles Wine Country unforgettable: private tastings, rare and limited-production wines, luxury getaways, vineyard adventures, outstanding dining experiences, and other one-of-a-kind packages, all generously donated by local wineries and businesses.

Of course, winning an incredible wine country experience is exciting. But what makes the Virtual Auction truly special is knowing that every bid helps create opportunities for local students. It's a chance to celebrate everything we love about Paso Robles Wine Country while giving back to the community that makes it all possible.

As harvest gets underway and another vintage begins, California Wine Month offers the perfect reminder of what sets our wine region apart from all others. It's not just the vineyards or the wines, it's the people. The growers, winemakers, hospitality teams, volunteers, educators, students, and neighbors who all play a part in making this community strong.

This September, whether you're visiting a tasting room, sharing a bottle with friends, or bidding in the Virtual Auction, know that you're helping write the next chapter of Paso Robles. That's something worth raising a glass to.
