A Summer Well Spent in Wine Country

Summer in Paso Robles Wine Country is all about slowing down and savoring the season. Warm days and cool nights make it easy to make the most of every moment. Long evenings on the patio, laid-back barbecues with friends, outdoor concerts, and glasses filled with local wine create the perfect backdrop for unforgettable summer memories.

Chilled Whites and Reds

Summer heat calls for a refreshing glass of white wine, and Paso Robles is home to a growing white wine scene. From more popular varietals like Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay to lesser-known whites like Assyrtiko and Clairette Blanche, Paso Robles offers a place for white wine discovery.

Paso's third annual White Wine Invitational by the Paso Robles White Wine Guild celebrates the booming white wine culture in the region. Over 20 wineries will be pouring unique, quality-driven white wines in a casual, walk-around tasting format at Rava Winery on Saturday, August 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. You can find more info on the event at pasorobleswhitewineguild.com

But keep in mind, the summer heat doesn’t mean you need to stick with only whites and rosé. If you are looking to cool off a bit, any red wine can also be chilled, with some varieties especially well-suited for summer sipping. In Paso Robles, Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Grenache stand out as ideal chillable reds, offering bright red fruit flavors, soft tannins, and refreshing acidity. Served slightly cool, these wines become even more vibrant, making them a perfect choice for summer in Paso.

Whether red or white, Paso Robles is full of variety. Over 60 varieties are grown across the region, and the unique mediterranean climate and diverse soils help create the best expression of each wine. With so many great choices, you are sure to find the perfect wine for any summer occasion.
