Classic cars, community spirit, and a full day of family-friendly fun will take center stage this Memorial Day weekend as the 18th Annual Golden State Classics Car Show returns to Paso Robles Downtown City Park on Saturday, May 23.
Running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., this beloved event has become a staple of the Central Coast, drawing car enthusiasts and families alike for a relaxed day under the oaks. With more than 300 vintage, classic, and custom vehicles expected to fill the park, attendees can stroll through rows of gleaming chrome and carefully restored rides, each with its own story to tell.
From early muscle cars and hot rods to custom builds, trucks, and modern classics, the show offers something for every automotive taste. More than 50 awards will be presented across a wide range of categories, recognizing craftsmanship, originality, and creativity. Whether you’re a lifelong gearhead or simply appreciate beautiful design, the variety on display makes it easy to find a favorite.

Families, in particular, will find plenty to enjoy. One of the most popular features is the 3rd Annual Model Building Make & Take, a free hands-on activity designed for kids ages 8 to 14. Taking place from 10 a.m. to noon during the show, the activity invites young builders to assemble their own model cars using snap-together kits — no glue or paint required. With guidance from experienced modelers and help from parents, participants can customize their creations with stickers before displaying them at the show and competing for prizes. At the end of the day, each child gets to take their model home.
The fun actually begins the evening before, with a Pre-Show Party on Friday, May 22, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Held in nearby Santa Margarita, the gathering features food, music, and a 50/50 raffle, along with an opportunity to connect with fellow car enthusiasts. Attendees can also join a local cruise through town, adding a dynamic kickoff to the weekend’s festivities.
For those bringing vehicles to the show, organizers have made participation easy, even offering assistance with trailer parking near the park. But for spectators, admission remains one of the event’s biggest draws: it’s completely free to attend.
